The first 100 Afghan citizens who will temporarily stay in Kosovo until their departure to the United States have arrived at Prishtina airport.
The plane transporting war-torn Afghans landed at Prishtina International Airport. The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, the Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the Ambassador of the United States in Pristina, Philip Kosnett, were waiting for them in the tarmac.
According to the measures taken by the authorities, they will be sheltered in the military base "Bondsteel" located in Ferizaj.
Increased Kosovo police forces have been seen around the airport to ensure their arrival in the country. Kosovo is expected to temporarily house about 2,000 Afghans.
