The head of the international monitoring operation, IOM, Maciej Popovski stated today that the constitutional changes in Albania for the extension of the mandate of the vetting bodies are important to complete this process, so that the work done so far is not lost and not start everything from the scratch.
"The IOM considers the extension of work to be of great importance in order to have a successful completion of the vetting process as part of justice reform. We support the amendment to extend the term of office of Independent Qualification Commission members and Public Commissioners. The IOM considers this extension important for vetting to be completed successfully. This will allow issues to be resolved given the capacities developed and the experience gained. The work that has been done so far should not be lost and everything should not start from the scratch," he said speaking at the joint meeting of the Council for Legislation and the Committee for Issues Legal, Public Administration and Human Rights.
