US Ambassador Yuri Kim and EU Ambassador Luigi Soreca met with Judicial Appointment Council (JAC) President Ervin Pupe.
The meeting was announced by the ambassadors themselves through Twitter posts. Soreca, while expressing the support of the EU states that it is important for (JAC) to proceed with the remaining vacancies in the Constitutional Court as soon as the Supreme Court has opened them.
‘I congratulated the new Council, wished them success in their work and confirmed the strong support of the EU, including our technical assistance. It is important that once the Supreme Court has opened the remaining vacancies for the Constitutional Court, the JAC will be ready to proceed, in order to ensure the full functionality of the CC as soon as possible in the coming months." Soreca.
Ambassador Yuri Kim also wrote about the meeting that by working together JAC, the Presidency and the Parliament made it possible for the Constitutional Court to be functional by the end of 2020.
"Working together, KED, the Presidency and the Parliament managed to make the Constitutional Court functional by the end of 2020. Now it is the time for the Supreme Court to reach a quorum in order to fill vacancies in the CC and for the Supreme Court to be fully functional. Let us move forward, step by step," Kim writes.
