US-Kosovo Investment Promotion Agreement enters into force

The United States and Kosovo signed an investment promotion agreement in December last year. The American Corporation for International Financial Development (DFC) announced that the Investment Promotion Agreement with Kosovo has entered into force.

The entry into force of the agreement "enables DFC to deploy the full range of financial products in Kosovo," the DFC said in a Twitter post. The agreement will enable the US Corporation for International Financial Development to offer its full financial range, which includes debt financing, equity investments, political risk insurance and technical assistance grants.

Prime Minister Abdullah Hoti and US Ambassador to Kosovo Philip S. Kosnett on December 31 signed an investment promotion agreement that enables the US-based Corporation for International Financial Development (DFC), the American Development Bank, to bring financial products.

According to the announcement of the US Embassy in Kosovo, this agreement will help the country in creating jobs. The new Kosovo-US Investment Incentive Agreement is expected to provide full access to all investments supported by the US International Finance Corporation, as well as set out actions related to corporate support for projects in Kosovo and the handling by Kosovo of these projects.

Following the historic agreement for economic normalization between Kosovo and Serbia of September 4, 2020 in Washington, Kosovo and the United States aim to advance the negotiations, after the date of entry into force of the new Investment Incentive Agreement, for important projects in Kosovo, including agreed projects which are part of the agreement for economic normalization between Kosovo and Serbia.
