The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj welcomed today in his office the counterpart of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, to whom he presented the "Key of the City". The meeting between the two counterparts took place exactly after the good news where Greece opened its borders with Albania after the blockade due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mayor Veliaj expressed his conviction that the relations between the two countries are better than they were yesterday, while adding that tomorrow they will be even better than they are today.
While the mayor of Athens, Bakoyannis thanked Velaj for the gift with special symbolism, as he said that he notices that Tirana is being transformed day by day with fast steps.
"In Athens we have a large presence of the Albanian diaspora, of Albanian emigrants there, who constitute an integral part of the life of our city. This key, and this trust in me, is well-founded. We have an obligation to move forward with courage and determination. Not in theory, not in words, but in deeds. To cooperate with the same momentum with which I see how the city of Tirana is transformed. With the same momentum that we want to transform the city of Athens and now we have the opportunity to join forces," said Kostas Bakoyannis.
