The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, honored with the Medal of Gratitude of the city of Tirana, one of the most prominent figures of Albanian volleyball, the coach of the Tirana's women team, Ardian Gorenca.
During a surprise ceremony, on the occasion of his retirement, "Sport Klub Tirana" and Mayor Veliaj expressed their gratitude for the contribution given over the years, training over 10 generations of the elite womens' volleyball team in Albania.
"To say thank you for the beautiful memories, energy, zeal and love you have given to this team, but also to the city. The team you have built with so much effort and sweat, is the taste you have given to the city, like that ‘needed salt''. "Thank you very much, because you have been the taste of our city"- declared Mayor Veliaj.
The mayor said that coach Gorenca has taught the volleyball generations of "Tirana" the spirit of the team's character.
"Retirement is another phase of life, but you can still contribute, there is still productivity, you still give advice and energy. There are many people who do sports to keep their body in shape, but I believe it is more than that; doing sports keeps your character in shape. "You taught the girls of the 'Tirana' team character, so thank you," Veliaj said.
The coach with a long career and many trophies on his shoulder, expressed his excitement for the evaluation, attributing his success to the girls of the Tirana team over the years. Ardian Gorenca has collected countless trophies and titles, both with the youth team and the senior team, inside and outside Albania.
